Mindfulness Meditation with John Vervaeke

Introduction to Vipassana Meditation with John Vervaeke

Mindfulness Meditation with John Vervaeke
Learning how to meditate is a valuable skill, especially in today’s chaotic world. It can help you become more focused, calm, and clear-minded. When practiced for extended periods of time, meditation can bring more meaning, wisdom, and transcendence into your life.
Vipassana, which means to see things as they really are, is an ancient Buddhist style of meditation that originated in India some 2500 years ago.
In this workshop, John Vervaeke will teach you the basic principles of Vipassana meditation in three sessions.
Each session will teach a basic principle in an enactive fashion, and build upon previously learned principles and practices.
We will conclude each workshop with a Q&A.

Week 1

This first week you will learn to centre yourself in meditation – center your posture, centre your attention and centre your attitude. These are important skills that will allow you do enter meditative states with more ease.

Week 2

On the second week, you will practice finding your root: the proper relaxation for mindfulness. You will then practice finding your flow: the embodied absorption in your experience. This will allow you to go deeper into your meditation.

Week 3

On the final week, you will practice finding your focus: the right concentration for mindfulness. This is a kind of soft vigilance instead of the hard focus you may be used to in everyday life. You will finish with practicing Metta, a contemplative practice designed to develop compassion, to complement the meditative practice of Vipassana.
